Scalp micropigmentation heals surprisingly quickly. Most clients experience some temporary redness and a darker, more defined appearance immediately after treatment. Over the following days, the scalp settles and the pigment softens into a more natural appearance.

Day 1: Immediately After SMP

Your SMP will look darker and slightly more defined than the final healed result. Some redness or mild sensitivity is normal, especially immediately after treatment. This usually settles quickly. Do not worry if the pigment looks stronger than expected on day one. It will soften as your scalp heals.

Days 2 to 4: Early Healing

During the first few days, the scalp begins to settle and the pigment impressions start to soften. You may notice some mild dryness or tiny flakes. Avoid picking, rubbing, or scratching the treated area. For the first four days, you should also avoid heavy sweating, swimming, saunas, steam rooms, prolonged water exposure, and direct sun.

1 Week: SMP Starts to Settle

By the end of the first week, redness is usually gone and the pigment begins to look much more natural. The impressions soften and blend into the surrounding scalp or existing hair, creating a more realistic follicle appearance.

If your fresh SMP initially looked darker than expected, this is when you will start seeing why treatment is designed around the healed result rather than how it looks immediately after your appointment.

Between Your SMP Sessions

SMP is gradually built over up to three treatment sessions. Allowing the scalp to heal between appointments lets us see how the pigment has settled before adding more density, depth, and refinement. Your first session is not supposed to look like the finished result. Each appointment builds naturally on the one before it.

Once Your SMP Is Fully Healed

After your treatment sessions are complete and the scalp has fully settled, the pigment should look soft, balanced, and naturally blended.

For Men's Scalp Micropigmentation, that means the appearance of natural follicles across a closely shaved scalp.

For Hairline and Density SMP and Women's SMP, the pigment blends beneath existing hair to reduce visible scalp and create the appearance of greater density.
